Can urgency be taught?

Before urgency can be taught, it must be understood. During our week number three session, a 12 year old G.O.A.L. Initiaitve student seemed to reflect on the notion that in five short years... they will be an adult. A 15 year old student realized that in three short years... something needs to be done. With each passing year, this student will gain a clearer picture of what actions they need to take on the road called life. The greatest challenge we have as leaders of this next generation is to teach them how not to be comfortable with their daily companion known as... TIME!

The G.O.A.L. Initiative is not designed to create a comfortable mindset, it is utilized to help our youth understand preparation is essential for the moments that are urgent.

Below is a picture of me teaching one of our students how to conduct an interview:

By example, almost never by words

In my recent visit to the North Carolina State Capitol, I passed by the education wall. As a youth motivational speaker, I use millions of words each year in an attempt to inspire and impact my audiences. The message on the wall behind me is a vivid reminder that our kids hear millions of words about how we want to help them, but the most powerful tool we have is the example and life we live before them.

What more do I need to say?

Don't Drop The Hammer!

I have been traveling through many diverse areas in Eastern North Carolina delivering a landmark message to our youth entitled, Don't Drop The Hammer!
Typically I create and deliver a new speech at each location I am invited to, however this message has such a unique focus of encouraging young people, we are now on a statewide mission to deliver it in all 100 counties of North Carolina.

I am providing a few links from our recent visit at Piney Grove AME Zion Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Little, Jr.

Mr. Green, of The Havelock Boys and Girls Club, was a tremendous host and proves to be an essential part of the Havelock Community.

I look forward to our next meeting where they map out volunteering strategies and conduct their first goal analysis.
