Our first ever G.O.A.L. Initiative Graduation was held at the Fort Benjamin Recreation Center. We are very proud of the work these students accomplished, and look forward to many more graduations throughout the state.

It Pays to Volunteer

TGI Students were back out in the community this week volunteering their time at the local public library. A special thanks to the Havlock library for allowing us to serve. Our students helped alphabetize and look for defects in the books. The biggest dividens are recieved when you give to a cause greater than yourself.

What do you see?

This week some of our G.O.A.L. Initiative students participated in T.G.I. dress up night. One thing I will never forget is that these are kids. They need to run, play, have fun, and live life. Not every second should be spent preparing for adulthood. This is why we only meet once per week for one hour, we want kids to be kids. I do however, want these students to have a vision and an understanding that preparation is essential for fulfilling your dreams.

I hope you see what I see in these wonderful young men and women. These are the leaders of tomorrow, but they are preparing...right now!

Can urgency be taught?

Before urgency can be taught, it must be understood. During our week number three session, a 12 year old G.O.A.L. Initiaitve student seemed to reflect on the notion that in five short years... they will be an adult. A 15 year old student realized that in three short years... something needs to be done. With each passing year, this student will gain a clearer picture of what actions they need to take on the road called life. The greatest challenge we have as leaders of this next generation is to teach them how not to be comfortable with their daily companion known as... TIME!

The G.O.A.L. Initiative is not designed to create a comfortable mindset, it is utilized to help our youth understand preparation is essential for the moments that are urgent.
